Orange Bread

Ingredients:
- 1 C. butter or margarine
- 2 3/4 C. plus 1/4 C. flour
- 2 C. sugar
- 24 candy orange slices, diced
- 4 eggs
- 2 C. chopped pecans
- 2 tsp. orange rind, grated
- 8 oz. chopped dates
- 1 tsp. baking soda
- 1 C. flaked coconut
- 1/2 C. buttermilk
Preparation
Put dates and orange slices in Ziploc bag with 1/4 cup flour. Shake until well coated, set aside.
Cream butter and sugar, beat eggs in one at a time. Add orange rind. Combine salt and soda with flour,
and add alternately with buttermilk to butter mixture. Add fruit and flour, coconut and nuts. Grease
and flour loaf pans. Bake at 300° for approximately 1 hour. Makes 3 loaf pans.
