Elder Jim Kross

Jim Kross has lived in the Antelope Valley for 29 years. For 23 of those years, he's attended and served at Valley Bible Church. In addition to his responsibilities as a church elder, Jim is a leader of the men's ministry and heads up the new building project. He can often be found filling in at the pulpit or teaching Sunday School. Over the years he's been a deacon, a leader in the high school, Awana, music and growth group ministries.

Jim is a Battalion Chief in the Los Angeles County Fire Department, working in the La Canada/Flintridge area. Prior to moving to Lancaster, he lived in San Diego and Santa Maria. He came to know Christ at the age of 16 after a friend invited him to a church "youth night" party. Jim says that growing up in a home effected by alcoholism prepared him to see his own sin and respond to the gospel. Personal study of the Bible and the discipleship of older, stronger Christian men prepared him for his ministries at VBC.

"The only other thing I would share with others is my keen awareness of my weaknesses and shortcomings and, in spite of these, how blessed I am to be enjoying the life the Lord has given me," Jim says. "I feel privileged to share in His work with those I serve and serve with at Valley." Jim still resides in Lancaster along with Debbie, his wife of 29 years. He has two sons, both married, and four grandchildren. When he's not working, he finds time to mountain bike, waterski and play golf.
