Randy Thompson came to the Antelope Valley in 1989 to work at NASA, where some of his co-workers invited him to Valley Bible. He grew up in Greenville, Pennsylvania, and became a believer at age 14 after counselors at a Christian summer camp at Lake Erie shared the gospel with him and he realized that his heart was empty without Jesus.
As a member of VBC, Randy has been involved in many ministries including adult Sunday school, Evangelism Explosion and the college group. He was trained in cross-cultural ministry before the church sent him and his wife, Rebecca, to Japan, where they served as missionaries for four and a half years. Randy is a deacon, growth group leader and adult Sunday school teacher and works with visiting Japanese students in the church's homestay program.
He and Rebecca have two young boys, Christian and Jace. When he's not working as a flight test engineer at Edwards Air Force Base, Randy enjoys reading, playing the guitar and hanging out with family and friends. "I love my brothers and sisters at VBC and am challenged by their striving to become more like Jesus," Randy said. "I am humbled to be able to work together with you to advance Christ's kingdom."
