Baptism

Kelvin Lightner is scheduled to be baptized at the home of Dan and Miriam Jenison immediately after the second worship service.

Kelvin is part of our High School Ministry and the Jenisons live at 4744 West Avenue M-8.

Engagements

Last week saw the blessing of two engagements of our church members. Chris Kostyk and Jenny Conover will be married on August 7 and Sergio Reyes and Aimee Scott will be married sometime in the fall.

Chris leads our Salt 'N Light Group and teaching in our Adult Sunday School and proposed to Jenny on the beach near Oxnard on Valentine's Day.

Not to be outdone, Sergio proposed to Aimee following day in Hawaii. You can read about it in the Honolulu newspaper.

We pray for God blessing on both these upcoming marriages.

Azalyn Mariah Aceves

Congratulations to Cisco and Ashlie Aceves on the birth of their second child, Azalyn yesterday.

Azalyn was seven pounds, three ounces at birth and was nineteen and one-half inches long. Be sure to also congratulate her grandfather, Francisco Aceves, who is our Deaf Pastor.

Blake Joseph Barker

Congratulations to Jason and Nikki Barker on the birth of their first child, Blake Jospeh, on Friday, February 5. Blake was 21.75 inches long and weighed 8 pounds, 2 ounces.

Blake is also the great-grandson of Anita Karlis, who led our Children's Ministry for many years.

Asher Hair

Please pray for Asher Hair who has been admitted to Antelope Valley Hospital with severe breathing problems. He is undergoing breathing treatments in a sterile environment and is slowly improving.

Asher is the seven year old son of Jon and Holly Hair.

Pursuing Maturity Class Begins This Sunday

Our next fourteen week Pursuing Maturity series will begin at 9:00 a.m. this Sunday in room 7-8, which is just across from the new auditorium in the office building.

This is a great class to take if you are newer to our church or if you have not been through a class that coveres the fundamentals of the Christian faith in a comprehensive fashion. Lance Richards, who is one of our church leaders, will be teaching the class with assistance from other leaders

Please pray for Brian as he departs today to help in the relief effort in Haiti through the Los Angeles County Fire Department's Urban Search and Recue unit.

Please pray for his ministry to people during his weeklong stay and for God's work in the lives of the Haitian people.

Kim Taylor's Mother -- Update

Kim's mother's heart bypass surgery was successful and she is recovering well.

The medical staff hopes she can be off the ventilator tomorrow. Please pray for her.

Baby Shower for Brian and Jenna Tanner

Over the past few weeks, Brian and Jenna Tanner have been blessed by the arrival of not one but two little children in their home that they are planning to adopt. In order to support their budding family, there will be an open house baby shower for them at the home of Kevin and Christine Warren (3108 West Avenue M-7) this Sunday, January 17 at 2:30 p.m.

They are adopting a one month old son, Shawn, and a thirteen month old daughter, Abby, who is is biological sister.
